The South Dakota State Archeological Research Center has already done the work
for you.  They have developed an excellent manual that dictates excactly how a
collection needs to arrive and the cost of its curation.  It includes
instuctions for field preperation of objects, photos, journals and reports so
that permanent curation will be expedited at the point of excavation.
Furthermore it is a model of a State agency working with multiple public and
private agencies towards a common goal.
