Despite the comment about 'hysteria', it needs to be emphatically said
that the <last> thing one would want to do when cleaning up asbestos is to
vacuum it with a typical vacuum cleaner. The fibers are so small that
thay pass through the bags. Ask any lab technician who specializes in
testing and abatement. When filters are examined in air tests for
example, the electron microscope magnification is usually around 22,000
times. (!!!)

DON'T vacuum the stuff unless you use high filtration wet vacuum
systems. If you don't, you are simply blowing it throghout the room.
Use wet paper towels or rags to wipe out the area, preferably twice. Put
the towells/rags in sealable plastic bags.

There are sound reasons that the goverment has banned many asbestos products.
Please observe proper cleanup procedures.
