I lost the original request for this information but if that person is
still around they might check Alan Gropman's book, "The Air Force
Integrates--1945 to 1964" Published by Office of Air Force History in 1977.
There are also chapters of the organization (Tuskegee Airman) at several
of the fighter bases. Langley AFB has a large chapter. I would need to
know where the original poster lives to tell them where the nearest AFB
would be.
As an aside. In 1978 I was at a luncheon with General Ira Eaker on one
side of me and General William Momeyer on the other. General Momeyer was
grumbling about the way history books discussed his actions about holding
back the black pilots when they first arrived in Europe. His contention
was it was only to allow them to become acquainted with the area and
nothing to do with race or capability.
