To all you who know what a glaton quincunx is, I pose the following query.
Suppose you have a varient of the glaton quincunx which pivots in the center (li
ke the dressing mirror). However, after the first iteration (which sets up the
bell curve distribution in the bottom chutes, you swing the funnel at the top, o
ut of the way, replacing it with another set of chutes. Now pivot the quincunx
and allow the balls to fall again (not hitting each other), from left to right (
or right to left) through the quincunx arrays into the new set of chutes. NOW,
DESCRIBE THE NEW DISTRIBUTION FUNCTION AND DEFEND YOUR ANSWER. (25 points for t
he correct answer, 75 points for the correct rationale.)
