Librarians and archivists must be prepared to protect themselves and their
collections in varioustypes of emergencies, from minor crises to
community-wide disasters. This workshop will help you to prepare for, and
thus limit, various types of damage to collections and facilities through
risk assessment, disaster planning, and recovery procedures. Several
comprehensive plans willbe provided as models, and each institution will
create the framework of their own disaster plan. Day 1 will focus on
identifying hazards and developing the disaster plan, and is intendedfor
the current or potential disaster team leader. Day 2 will address
response and recovery, including hands-on salvage activities. Because it
is important for several members of a staff to be familiar with these
techniques, Day 2 is open to two additional members of an institution, all
for a single registration fee.=20

Tom Clareson, AMIGOS Preservation Service Manager will conduct the
workshop. This co-sponsored workshop is offered at the reduced fee of
$85.00, which entitles your institution tosend one person to Day 1 and up
to two additional staff to Day 2.=20
