MUSEUM-L has been receiving reports from the CIDOC/MCN Conference
in progress in Washington DC. The CIDOC distribution list, CIDOC-L,
which has been mentioned in these reports is now open for public
subscription. The official announcement follows below:

CIDOC-L on [log in to unmask]
CIDOC is the International Documentation Committee of the
International Council of Museums (ICOM) and serves as a focus for
the documentation interests of museums and similar organizations.
It has over 650 members from 60 countries representing a wide
variety of museum disciplines.
CIDOC-L is intended to serve as an electronic forum for the
discussion of all issues related to the field of museum
documentation both for members of CIDOC and all others who are
professionally involved in the organization's sphere of
activities.
List members are encouraged to participate by posting information
and queries on subjects relevant to the concerns of documentation
specialists, registrars, librarians, computer managers, systems
designers, advisors and trainers. Material will also be posted by
the CIDOC officers and its workgroups.
The list is open for public subscription and contributions may be
submitted without restriction. If you wish to join CIDOC-L please
send a message to:

with the very first line in the message, unindented, containing
the command:
SUBSCRIBE CIDOC-L Yourfirstname Yourlastname.
Your subscription will be acknowledged by a text providing
detailed information about the list and its operation.
