I've been deleting (unread) most of this thread, but just remembered the
morgue of the prison on Alcatraz Island.  When I saw it a couple of years
ago while doing some work at the prison (don't remember if this area is
on the public tour) it looked like part of a stage set from a Vincent
Price movie; broken wall, overgrown with weeds and mold, etc.
