The Southeastern Registrars Association (SERA) is pleased to present
their most recent publication. *Steal This Handbook! A Template for
Creating a Museum's Emergency Preparedness Plan* serves as a template
from which museums can create their own emergency preparedness plans.

The handbook covers all aspects of emergency preparedness, response,
and recovery, and includes both major disasters and everyday,
potentially dangerous situations. Chapters deal with:

* how to organize an emergency plan
* standards for collections care and museum operations which mitigate
against the effects of an emergency
* procedures tofollow during, immediately after, and in recovery from
  an emergency
* stabilization techniques for damaged collection materials and
  buildings
* detailed appendices, such as how to develop the chain of command and
phone tree, collection priorities, evacuation procedures, resource
  lists, incident forms, etc.

Along with samples of forms, the handbook has an extensive
bibliography which includes ordering information.

This spiral-bound handbook, approximately 250 pages in length, was
written especially for small and mid-size museums by the Ozark Group
for Emergency Resources (OGER). The handbook has been reviewed by a
diverse group of conservators, risk managers, museum professionals,
and emergency and disaster specialists. Why start from scratch when
you can *Steal This Handbook!*... well, almost.
