Dana:
When I was head curator at Mystic Seaport Museum, we had a fierce problem
with sun coming into a gallery in a historic building that was amplified
by bouncing off water.

Relatively inexpensive solution: The multipane windows had been equipped
with single pane interior storms, held in place by magnetic strips. These
got a layer of UV film. It was not enough. So we bought some UV plexi
glass, as I recall in the darkest grade possible, and cut it to loosely
fit in the space between the interior storm and the multimullioned
window. End of problem. Like the glass in one of those stretch limos:
visitors were still able to see the water, and my UV meter bearing
conservator was happy, and the B&G people were happy. Cost of the
interior storms was paid for in about a year of oil savings. And the
problem of applying the film is vastly simplified and costs much less if
it is on a single sheet than if on multipanes.
