I don't know if it's been yet mentioned, but a relevant book would be
UNAUTHORIZED AMERICA. A TRAVEL GUIDE TO THE PLACES THE CHAMBER OF
COMMERCE WON'T TELL YOU ABOUT, by Vince Staten (Harper & Row, $9.95). It
does cover some off-the-wall museums, but mostly seems to provide info on
"weird" places, like where Seann Penn punched a photog; and, yes, the
hotel where Rob Lowe directed his own videos.
