I am writing to the recipents of the list Museum-L to seek advice on the
restoration of an old Opera House in Ohio. In 1886 the Village of
Hayesville constructed their village office building with an Opera House
on the second floor. Today this building still exists and includes all
of the original scenery, seats, staging and decorations still in place on
the second floor, now closed to the public. My question is what advice
would you offer to a potential group of concerned citizens interested in
bringing new life to this old space? I might add that 20 years ago a
renovation was carried out to clean and repaint this space which has
helped to prevent its decay. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
