That kind of situation is by far the standard in British Columbia. We have
over 300 museums and galleries in the province, and probably 25 of those
employ more than 2 people.
 
It's an interesting point - those kinds of institutions are not really
represented here - this discussion is really for large institutions (who
can afford internet connexions). How can we reach those small places?
Should we try? Maybe it's just another burden on their already severely
stressed backs.
 
I jest really, because of those that we have managed to
connect through the Dogwood Network, the smaller places spend the most
time communicating. It breaks them out of their often remote locations
into the museum community that is so evident here.
