The Gregg Museum of Art & Design at NC State seeks an Associate Registrar to join our team. Details of the position are listed below. Anticipated Hiring Range: $42,000-44,500
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 40 hours per week as scheduled.

About the Department:
The Gregg Museum of Art & Design inspires creativity, innovation, and the expression of ideas by making its collections and activities freely accessible to the university, the community, and the public. The Gregg acquires and preserves a vast collection of art, craft and design relevant to the university, the community, and the state; encourages and facilitates the use of the collection for teaching, learning, research and enjoyment; creates 6-8 thought-provoking exhibitions each year, which are accompanied by educational publications produced by the museum; and facilitates critical and creative thinking, lifelong learning, and a passion for discovery through an extensive series of workshops, symposia, classes, lectures and other programs.

Essential Job Duties:
The Associate Museum Registrar manages the Gregg Museum’s collection of over 35,000 objects and is responsible for the day-to-day movement and care of the pieces including monitoring environmental conditions and managing the museum’s integrated pest management program. In addition they manage all accessions and deaccessions to and from the collection including preparing and processing the necessary paperwork, digital files, and physical objects. The Associate Museum Registrar is the primary employee responsible for the museum’s database management and data input. This position will also work with the Registrar/Associate Director to evaluate loans and facilitate exhibitions as needed. In addition, the Associate Registrar oversees the museum’s collections interns.

Qualifications:
Minimum Experience/Education: High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of experience that demonstrates possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Other Required Qualifications:
-Able to lift 50lbs and climb ladders;
-Able to organize complex sets of data;
-Strong attention to detail;
-Experience with collections management database software;
-Conscientious about following instructions thoroughly;
-Good problem-solver;
-Able to work equally well independently or as a part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree or higher with a focus on Museum Studies or related field
-3-5 years of experience in a museum or gallery
-Ability to quickly learn new/unfamiliar software
-Proficient with typical office computer programs including Microsoft Suite and Google programs, especially Excel and Sheets
-Experience with collections management database software
-Experience with Re: discovery Proficio software
