This is a full time position with the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center in Little Rock, a division of the Arkansas Department of Parks Heritage and Tourism in Little Rock. This position has a salary of $40,340 per year, and offers a full benefit package including paid holidays, annual and sick leave, health and life insurance and retirement. Job Duties:
*	Accessions and catalogs artifacts according to best museum practices as set forth in the agency policy manual.
*	Prepares and cares for historical items. Responsible for appropriate handling and care of artifacts used in exhibits. Stays updated on modern conservation techniques and methods and archival mounting techniques. Consults with agency director on the possible effects of specific environmental conditions on artifacts in exhibits.
*	Coordinates and leads exhibit installation including but not limited to writing exhibition text.
*	Stores, transports, and handles artifacts.
*	Maintains all files associated with the collection.
*	Photographs artifacts for documentary and insurance purposes.
*	Produces quarterly insurance reports, general facility reports, and other relevant reports, as needed.
*	Conducts annual inventory of all collections.
*	Leads the planning, development, and implementation of temporary and permanent exhibitions including working with external vendors and museum sites
*	Acts as a resource on African American history in Arkansas including answering reference inquiries, consulting with donors, assisting with grant writing, and serving on statewide committees
*	Performs Other Duties as Assigned.
Required Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in history, anthropology, art history or related field; plus two years of experience in research and authentication of historic items, creation of historic exhibits and displays or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in history, African American history, art history or related field; plus two years' experience in research and authentication of historic items, creation of historic exhibits and displays or related field OR the formal education equivalent of a master's degree in history, public history, archives, library science, museology or related field; substantial experience in conducting research on topics of African American history; experience with designing and implementing exhibitions.
Special Requirements:
*	Occasional work other than normal office hours including evenings and weekends.
*	Occasional in-state and/or out-of state travel for research and workshops may be required.
*	Valid Arkansas drivers license.
*	A pre-employment criminal background check is required.
*	Position is subject to drug screening.
