Curatorial Internship

The Gaston County Museum of Art & History is currently seeking a collections intern for Fall 2016. The intern will assist the Curatorial Staff in exhibition design/installation as well as collections management. The intern will also work under the guidance of the Curatorial Staff to update and maintain permanent exhibits and interpreted spaces.
The successful candidate will be detail oriented, organized, and able to work independently. Must be able to work with and meet deadlines, lift up to 40 pounds, and climb stairs and ladders. Preference will be given to candidates with previous museum work or course experience and/or candidates wishing to pursue a career in museums. Knowledge of PastPerfect collections database a plus.
The internship is unpaid, but housing within walking distance to the museum is provided. The internship will run from August - December 2016, and be 30 to 40 hours per week during that time. Deadline for application is July 31, 2016.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the 1852 Greek-Revival style Hoffman Hotel is the main building of Gaston County Museum of Art & History. This multifaceted attraction with multiple sites on the Historic Dallas Courthouse Square features exhibitions, period rooms, North Carolina’s largest collection of horse-drawn vehicles, beautiful grounds with a sculpture garden, public programs, tours, and unique event spaces.
