Curatorial Park Aide (Blue)

California State Parks seeks to hire a Curatorial Park Aide to work in Monterey State Historic Park.

This position serves as an integral part of the curatorial housekeeping team, participating in the preventive conservation program for Monterey State Historic Park’s historic buildings and museum collections. The duties for this position will focus on the cleaning and preservation of the interior and exterior of the historic museum buildings. This will include preforming scheduled housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, dry and wet mopping of floors, dusting exhibits and interpretive props, cleaning windows, sweeping porches and walkways, cleaning offices and restrooms, checking/emptying trash, and replacing light bulbs. Under supervision, housekeeping work will also include waxing, dusting, vacuuming, and polishing of museum artifacts and historic furnishings. This position will require lifting, working on a ladder, and bending while performing preservation tasks. Training will be provided in preservation and cleaning procedures.  

Requirements:
– Keen sense of observation. 
– Excellent critical thinking skills. 
– Willingness to learn.
– Ability to work well with minimal supervision.
– Dependable, responsible, team player.
– Passion for history.

•	This is an ATW (Actual Time Worked) position with a total of 1500 hours per year (3/4 time base.) Typical work week is Tuesday to Saturday from 7am to 1pm. However, schedule may vary during training and there will be times when this position works weekends and evenings during special events.
•	The reporting location for this position is Monterey State Historic Park.
•	While working, this position must wear an approved California State Parks uniform.
•	Pay Range: $10.28 -$12.02 per hour. 
•	The anticipated start date is October 3, 2016.

This will include preforming scheduled housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and maintaining antiques, art objects, paintings, statues, rugs, tapestries, furnishings, and other objects of historical or artistic value. Duties will also include museum custodial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, waxing, vacuuming, and cleaning windows. This position will require lifting, working on a ladder, and bending while performing preservation tasks. Training will be provided in artifact preservation and cleaning procedures.
