TITLE: MUSEUM REGISTRAR (Position # AH0007)
LOCATION: Gaston County Museum of Art & History
131 W. Main Street, Dallas, N.C. 28034-0429
PAY SCALE: $15.5124-$24.0451 (Non Exempt-Eligible for Overtime)
APPOINTMENT: Part Time Permanent (20-29 Hours/week)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (NOTE: The duties listed below are not inclusive of all of the duties that may be assigned to the position but are considered as essential to the nature of the job).
* Complies and maintains legal documents including accession records, condition reports, loan paperwork, conservation records, insurance policies, and environmental records.
* Responsible for Integrated Pest Management implementation.
* Facilitates public access to collections in accordance with established policies.
* Coordinates collections database projects including software, data standards, and data entry.
* Assists curator in care and control of collections on and off-site.
* Organizes outside services as needed, including conservation, packing, crating, shipping, photographing and insuring.
* Assists curator and exhibits designer with exhibit design, preparation, installation, and deinstallation.
* Trains and supervises interns and volunteers.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Museum Studies or related field and three years of related experience in a museum environment. Must have knowledge of Collections data base systems. Knowledge of PastPerfect desired. The candidate selected must undergo and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL OR ABILITY REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to work varying work schedules. Physical ability to work from ladder and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds to/from overhead.
