If you Google DIY fake logs, there are several good ideas.

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Fake logs and hay

We are looking for fake (plastic?) wood logs for an upcoming exhibit. Does anyone have any sources that would be willing to ship to Minnesota? They would need to around 24" in length and not particularly large, something kids could pick up two or three of at a time.

If this is not something we could buy, can anyone suggest a non-toxic coating that we could cover real logs with that would prevent splinters and bark removal.

Thank you,
