I have always used "Dear Search Committee" if I can't find a specific name to use as it is pretty inclusive and easily applicable for a lot of situations.

This is a good point. Furthermore, many times for government positions, your letter and resume are going to an HR department which is completely separate from the museum. They might not give out the HR person's name or it might be a group of people who are screening resumes so there is no way to address a letter to just one person.
