Dear Giovanni,

This is a very good point you raised. 

It is good, because the conflict between the Italian Government and the Getty 
Museum is of global  importance and the outcome of it will determine the policy of 
major museums in the long term.

I would suggest to have  the case from the Italian side and from the Getty 
museum side published on this list so that all members will be able to form their 
own judgement.

Besides, because with respect to important questions like these ICOM 
leadership is needed, to have ICOM guide the process of getting more 
understanding of the issues involved.
