The chapters in this book will make explicit the way the notion of cultural heritage is treated in libraries, archives, and museums across the globe. Topics discussed in these chapters may include:


1.      What does “cultural heritage” mean to a community?

2.      What does cultural heritage mean to libraries?

3.      What does cultural heritage mean to archives?

4.      What does cultural heritage mean to museums?

5.      The distinction between tangible and intangible cultural heritage

6.      Components of cultural heritage

7.      UNESCO conventions and cultural heritage

8.      What does cultural heritage resources management entail?

9.      Tools and technology for cultural heritage resources management?

10. Trends in cultural heritage resources management in libraries, archives, and museums

11.  Which comes first…folklore or cultural heritage, or vice versa?

12.  What about indigenous cultural heritage?

13.  The education of librarians, archivists, and museum specialists as cultural heritage professionals

Those who can provide a global perspective OR perspective representing countries and communities outside the United States are particularly encouraged to contribute.
