** Russia's great museums feud over revival plan
Russia's two greatest art museums were engaged in an unsightly public feud
over an idea to revive a Moscow museum of Western art that was shut down by
Stalin in the late 1940s
** Smithsonian closes galleries in 3 museums due to federal budget cuts
A spokeswoman said the Smithsonian will close a small exhibit space in the
National Museum of African Art, some sections of the Hirshhorn Museum
displaying its collection and the Commons area of the Smithsonian Castle,
which shows objects from every Smithsonian museum
** NY and Israel museums jointly buy ancient Hebrew manuscript that was
about to be auctioned
The manuscript was created in 1457 in the style of Northern Italian
Renaissance miniature painting and was restored at the conservation lab of

** British Museum's £135m extension is on time and on budget, say curators
Most of it is for museum operations normally hidden from the public - the
