Check with your local senior activity center. Many times they are looking for creative outlets for the seniors.

Think "green" before printing this page.

Subject: Re: [MUSEUM-L] Yarnbomb Project

Be careful what you ask for, knitters and crocheters love to go crazy,
in a good way. I'd start by contacting your local yarn shop (LYS) or
shops and telling them that you want to do a yarnbombing for an
upcoming exhibition. Set some parameters like when you'd like to have
things up, how long you want them to have them up, where you'd like
things bombed, and what not to bomb. If you want something specific,
like scarves on trees in a certain color, tell them that. Or let
people be creative and do whatever without destroying property, which
granted, it kind of hard to do with yarn. Ask the store to help you
get the word out to the local knitting groups and to post the info on
Ravelry, if they have an account on there. If not, they are probably
not that well connected with people in the area in the first place.
Ravelry is like Facebook for knitters and other fiber people and has
well over 2 million members. Not having a Rav account for a yarn store
is not like having a web page or an e-mail page. It's operating in the
dark ages. Anyway, I digress.

If you are in a relatively urban area with a bunch of knitters, you
will probably have a very successful bombing. If you are in a more
rural area, you will probably have a smaller bombing unless you open
it up to submissions from outside the area and set things up yourself.
Granted, this is against the true spirit of a yarnbombing as they are
traditionally done without the knowledge of the bombee and are hit and
run type activities.

Hope this helps!
