Founded in 1783, the Society of the Cincinnati is the nation's oldest patriotic organization, established by American officers of the Continental army and navy and their French counterparts to preserve the ideals of the American Revolution. The Society of the Cincinnati continues to promote public interest and scholarship in the American Revolution, the Society, and Anderson House, a National Historic Landmark. Since 1938, the Society has maintained its headquarters at Anderson House, a Beaux Arts mansion designed by Little & Browne of Boston as the winter residence of Larz Anderson, an American diplomat, and his wife, Isabel, an author and Red Cross volunteer. Anderson House is located in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, DC. For more information, please visit www.societyofthecincinnati.org.
