Hello Sarah,

The National Park Service has some information about exhibit design on their website at:

Also, they have an excellent CD for sale entitled "Exhibit Conservation Guidelines" that discusses exhibit case design and construction, among other things. It is about 8 years old, however, so may not have the most up to date info on topics such as lighting.
