We invite international submissions to be included in this forthcoming
book, being published by MuseumsEtc in Spring 2011. The full Call for
Papers is available at http://www.museumsetc.com/?p=3625

The book will be edited by Katy Beale [www.katybeale.com], who has
wide-ranging interest in this field and extensive experience helping
creative and cultural organisations interact with and develop their
audiences. She has recently worked with Tate, Science Museum, BBC
Radio 3, Crafts Council and Camden Arts Centre. She wrote a chapter of
Twitter for Museums: Strategies and Tactics for Success published by
MuseumsEtc.

Museums are using games in many ways – for interpretation, education,
marketing, outreach and events. Museums at Play will showcase tried
and tested examples from the sector and seek to inspire further
informed use of games as part of the Museum toolbox. It will also draw
on relevant experience from other sectors, and on the experience of
game designers and theorists. It will look at learnings from other
disciplines and explore the possibilities of interaction using gaming
within museums.

We welcome submissions – of between 2000 to 5000 words – in the form
of case studies, essays or opinion pieces, especially where these
reflect new, innovative and successful games practice (both digital
and physical) in the museum, arts or cultural sectors. If you wish to
submit a proposal please see the full Call for Papers at
http://www.museumsetc.com/?p=3625

Invited contributors to date include: Science Museum, Smithsonian
Museum, Tate, Museum of London, British Museum, Hide&Seek, Mudlark,
Coney, Invisible Flock.
