Health & Wellness (Vol 5, No. 2)
SEND INTENT TO SUBMIT BY 12/6/10
What is “wellness” in the 21st century? What is a healthy lifestyle today? How are ideas, knowledge, attitudes and personal choices changing towards the question of ‘what is health’? How does the concept of wellness fit with the mission of museums? The peer-reviewed journal Museums & Social Issues is seeking submissions of papers and reviews of books, exhibits or programs fro Vol. 5(2).
Museums & Social Issues is a peer-reviewed journal published by Left Coast Press, Inc. The journal provides a forum for discourse about social issues and the engagement of museums in those issues. Articles and reviews draw from inside and outside the museum field to better understand the issues and how those issues intersect with museums. Papers are encouraged from the fields of medicine, public health, museums, social services, philosophy, history, sociology, psychology and others.
Prospective authors should send an email to editor for publication guidelines and intention to submit by Dec. 6.
Examples of papers that are particularly encouraged deal with:
* Current research, philosophy and theory about wellness
* Interdisciplinary perspectives of wellness
* Trends in current and/or upcoming exhibits about health (co-authored papers that deal with a range of exhibits encouraged)
* Innovative programs that promote wellness
* Historical perspective on the changes in ways society defines, perceives, and promotes the concept of health
* How brain research informs discourses on health and behavior change
* Emerging technology in relation to the promotion, monitoring, or inhibition of wellness
* Disparity in models of health access and/or social justice
* Role of nutrition, exercise or attitude in health & wellness
* Public understanding and trust of health research
If you are interested in submitting an article, reviewing an exhibit or program or suggesting ideas for future issues, please contact the editor Kris Morrissey ([log in to unmask]) or [log in to unmask]
