Hello all,

My institution is in the process of approving the use and publication of a previously unpublished photograph. We own the archive and copyright of the photographer. Ethically, we're on firm ground since the photographer never expressed a desire to prevent posthumous printing/exhibiting of his negatives. My question is, what is the standard for captioning published photographs of this type? I believe it should be mentioned that the photograph being published was never printed or published by the photographer himself. Is this true?

Thanks.
