I was talking to a group of Middle School kids a few years ago about
Material Culture.  I started by asking if anyone knew what Material
Culture was.  No hands went up.  So I decided to simplify it and just
asked what Culture was.  Still no hands.  Finally one kid answered
"Bacteria?"
