The Museums and Social Issues Journal published an issue on this theme ("Museums and Public Understanding of Evolution") in 2006. The articles explored new directions in presenting evolution, visitor attitudes and conceptions, ethics and scientific integrity, approaches to dissent, and an engaging look at visual images of evolutionary themes at the turn of the century. Here's the table of contents:
