There are two different types of moth balls used to combat the moths. In one
type, the main ingredient is naphthalene, and in the other it is
paradichlorobenzene. www.howstuffworks.com
i understand the the para stuff is a nerve toxin for humans and, when i
worked for the national park service, they recommended that impregnated
clothes -- once aired out for FIVE YEARS - were safe to be around. covering
up the toxin smell is not the solution. they are unsafe for you to be
around, period. and good luck and good day to you. i have been gone from
the nps for about 20 years so maybe they have figured something out in the
meantime. Sara Conklin
