While there is some debate about its authenticity, the Diary of Opal Whiteley might be a good resource. Amazon lists several editions. A film is apparently in the works: http://www.opalthemovie.com/

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Examples of biographies of children

Dear friends,

I'm canvassing the ever-helpful museum list to see if anyone can
direct me towards a well-written examples of a biography of a child.
It may be a bit of a stretch as I'm not looking for biographies
written *for* children, but about them. I realize that most people
have biographies written about them after a life full of
accomplishment, but one of the core collections at the Sweet Briar
Museum belonged to a girl who died at the age of sixteen, and I have a
student interested in writing her biography as an honors thesis. Can
anyone point me in the direction of a good model? Barring a biography
of a child, perhaps someone might recommend chapters of a full-fledged
biography in which the early years are dealt with in some detail.

Thank you all in advance for your assistance.

All best,
Christian Carr
Director, Sweet Briar Museum
