Greetings,
My institution is considering hiring a company to create a replica
trunk. Currently, the Stonewall Jackson House has Thomas J. "Stonewall"
Jackson's childhood trunk on display; we're looking to instead display a
replica of the trunk in this location, and exhibit the original in a
more controlled way in another part of the house.
Has your museum or historic home hired a company to reproduce a specific
piece from your collection? What type of right to reproduce did you
reach with that company? For example, how did you make sure that they
would only produce said item for YOUR institution, and not for anyone
else--or for themselves to sell with your institution's name attached?
Any type of form/agreement that you could pass along my way would be
greatly appreciated!
Thank you so much!
Heidi Wing
