Many thanks to all who responded. A local rock hound made an unexpected visit to the museum and identified the piece as green Flourite from England. We had the donor location, but not the original dig location. Our best guess is that "Photocite" was a general term used to describe a wide variety of rocks, but has fallen out of use.
