One note, Federal jobs with short lead times are often already slotted
to someone so don't kill yourself applying for those jobs. Look for
the ones that are open for at least a month. Those are the jobs that
are truly open, not just being advertised because they have to. And
like with any job field, network. Sometimes Feds hire through
contractors or can hire people on a temporary basis and then advertise
their job when it becomes permanent.
