Director of Development
About Tacoma Art Museum
Tacoma Art Museum is a public-spirited institution with nationally recognized exhibitions and innovative educational programs that attract thousands of visitors annually to its galleries and events. By making connections for viewers that may not be instantly obvious, Tacoma Art Museum has developed a reputation for presenting art in a thought-provoking yet accessible manner. Tacoma Art Museum has also made a strong commitment to Northwest art through its acquisition and exhibition programs.
Tacoma Art Museum has served Puget Sound citizens since 1935 and will mark its 75th anniversary in October 2010. The museum completed a $27 million capital campaign in April 2004 and built a 50,000 square foot facility, located in the cultural district of downtown Tacoma, steps away from the Museum of Glass and the Washington State History Museum. Internationally renowned architect Antoine Predock designed the building, which opened May 3, 2003. With the increased space and capacity to present works of art and exhibitions far larger and more complex than ever before, the Museum has welcomed almost 500,000 visitors in the past five years. The annual operating budget is $3.5 million, and the Museum has recorded eight consecutive years of balanced budgets.
The qualified candidate must possess a compatible commitment to the museum brand personality: smart, dynamic, innovative, passionate, civic-minded, gracious, approachable.
