Normally I try to avoid commenting on copyright issues, as the tone of
conversation quickly moves towards the hysterical. But I do want to say
that the comments of Giles Hudson sound extremely reasonable. The
researcher sounds to have been inconsiderate, but he is hardly a
criminal worth taking to court. By the way, before anybody writes again
about suing anybody in the often very debatable area of copyright
infringement, please consider the cost and bother of such a suit.
One question: how does one copyright a banner? As opposed, perhaps to
trademarking the museum's logo?
