I completely agree with you Gayle because I just went into a job
interview today and it is through a grant, so the amount of money
offered for a salary isnt that high. But I know that I am doing it for
the love of art and museums. I think the only way to really make big
$$ in the museum field or art field would be is to get a MFA or PhD in
Art or a certain area of study and become the head exhibitionist,
curator, etc for a museum.

Its difficult to tell kids sometimes that if you go into the career
path of museum education, that they arent going to be able to buy
expensive toys, etc, because they are just kids. BUt I agree with you
that they should be told that they should go into it not expecting a
huge paycheck, but enriched by the passion.

On another note, how do you negotiate a salary through a grant before
accepting the position?
