Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know of an archivally sound way of stripping contemporary layers
of Rustproofing paint off of cast iron and several coats of glossy laquer off of
brass. I am looking to purchase an item for my institution, but am unsure if
these layers of paint over the vintage piece are irreversible and can be
removed without abbrading the surface layer of the object.

Thanks,
