Hello all,

I have a question about a glass, table top butter
churn from the 1920s. It has a metal top with the
same kind of mechanism as a hand beater/mixer and
wooden paddles.

In the metal top, there is a circle with small holes
cut out, much like a shaker top. What was this used
for?

I am guessing it could be for adding salt, but then I
wondered if it was for draining something as you made
the butter.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Kim Kenney
