Well said. In my opinion, Trustees and Directors that desire more than that
do not have the mission or the health of the organization at heart!

Subject: Re: [MUSEUM-L] pay for board members?
Having sat [from 1995 to 2000] on a Board of Trustees
of a very small non-profit [Andrew Carnegie Free
Library and Music Hall in Carnegie, Pennsylvania,
which includes a small Civil War Museum], with a
budget of $150,000, the whole idea of paying Board
members is absurd. In many cases, Board members spend
their own money, as well as time, assisting the
non-profit achieve its mission.
I would say that only reimbursement of expenses for
attending meetings [i.e. mileage and/or parking fees]
would be reasonable, IF that is deemed necessary.
However, I cannot imagine any Board member, who truly
believes in the mission of a small non-profit, even
asking for such a reimbursement!
