Sarah,
ContentDM is prohibitively expensive for a small organization.
Check out Open Collection, which is open source and web-based and
pretty neat: http://www.opencollection.org/

Sarah,
Check out Greenstone - it's open source (free!) and the web site has
lots of example of how it is being used. http://www.greenstone.org/
Also, ContentDM is a great software package. I'm not sure how much it
costs, but I've used it in the past with great results.

The Iowa Digital Library uses ContentDM for a lot of digital collection
projects.

I am undertaking a project to catalogue the historical collection of
our town's public library (town population about 9800). Nearly
everything in the collection has been scanned, and the library director
wants to get a software program that will be able to index the scans
and make them available to the public. I am familiar with Past Perfect,
but wonder if there is any other program out there that would be better
for the library's purpose?
Thanks for any insights you might have.
