Dear Folks:

Two avocational underwater archaeology groups, the Institute for Maritime History (IMH) and the Cleveland Underwater Explorers (CLUE) have just updated their “In The Field” postings on the Museum of Underwater Archaeology website. IMH reports on their Submerged Historical Inventory Project (SHIP) and provides maps showing their target areas while CLUE brings us up to date on their past work. They have provided sidescan sonar images and drawings of several Lake Erie wrecks they have documented. You see both of these updates by clicking the “In The Field” link on our main page at http://www.uri.edu/mua .

A question for each of you …

In a past survey several readers suggested they would like to navigate the MUA site by geographic location rather than by the type of project i.e. Exhibits, In The Field posts, Project Journals, etc. This fall we will be constructing an alternative navigation scheme for the site wherein the viewer can select how they would like the site to be organized. One option, as just mentioned, would be to arrange projects by location. Another option might be chronologically. We would like to know other ways folks might like the site’s content to be arranged. We want this to be a collaborative effort and hope to accommodate as many options as possible so please drop us a line at [log in to unmask] and let us know how you’d like to see the site organized. Thanks for your help!

Best regards,
T Kurt Knoerl
