Peter, as a professional editor it is my experience that editors
generally do not charge by the word. It is more common to contract for a
page rate or agree to an overall project cost. There is no standard
rate--each editor has their own standard fees, usually negotiable.

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Current Editing Fees
Can anyone advise me as to the current fee being charged, per word, to
'edit' a document that has been translated from another language. The
purpose of this editing process would be to ensure that the translated
document (to be edited) reads correctly and smoothly.
In general, does one charge for each and all of the total words in the
document, or just those words that are actually edited/altered in the
document?
Thanks
