research

A fossil of a new crab species reveals the itsy-bitsy crustaceans inhabited 
towering sponge reefs during the Jurassic Period, where they made tasty 
snacks for ichthyosaurs and other ancient reptiles

**  Carnivorous Dinosaur Tracks Discovered In Australia
The first fossil tracks belonging to large, carnivorous dinosaurs have been 
discovered in Victoria, Australia, by palaeontologists from Emory 
University, Monash University and the Museum of Victoria

**  Jurassic finds in Loei province
More than 10 new items of dinosaur remains have been found in Thailand, this 
time in Phu Kradung district of Loei province

**  Erenhot excavation reveals dinosaur fossil belt
The fossils were found at a depth of only one meter, and compared to 
previous discoveries the bones unearthed here are both larger and better 
preserved, according to palaeontologists from the Chinese Academy of 
Sciences and the Inner Mongolia Institute of Paleontology

**  Dinosaurs come alive at Heard Museum
The exhibit features a new roster of dinosaurs, including the Stegosaurus, 
Brachiosaurus, Dilophosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus and Metricanthosaurus

dinosaur, Futalognkosaurus dukei, that roamed the earth some 80m years ago

The fossilised skull, belonging to a herbivore called hadrosaurid, was 
unearthed on a mountain in the town of Mifune in Kumamoto prefecture

**  Dinosaur theory evolves
Dinosaurs may have had striped feathers, colourful skin patterns and been 
able to change from warm-blooded to cold-blooded during their life times

**  First T-Rex footprint discovered
A dinosaur hunter has discovered what he hopes is the world's first 
Tyrannosaurus rex footprint

**  Giant Plant-Eater Suzhousaurus megatherioides Waddled Across Ancient 
China
This bizarre dinosaur lived approximately 115 million years ago, during the 
early Cretaceous Period, in what is today Gansu Province in north-western 
China

**  Swiss archaeologists cry foul as dinosaur footprint stolen
The footprint, left by a three-tonne Allosaurus dinosaur around 152 million 
years ago, is about 40 centimetres wide by 70 centimetres long
