I am a graduate student at New York University in the Master of Arts Museum
Studies program. And I am in the process of writing my thesis on the ethical
and moral concerns surrounding how human remains of different origins are
displayed in a variety of different US museums. One aspect of the paper
examines the various guidelines that museums use in determining whether or
not human remains should be displayed. I was hoping to compile a number of
guidelines from various museums and would appreciate it if you would be
willing to share the guidelines that your museum follows whether it is AAM,
ICOM or ones the museum has created themselves. If your museum does not
display human remains, could you please share with me the reasoning behind
this decision?

Please reply to me off-list if you have any questions or concerns or do not
want to make your policy public to everyone. I realise the sensitive and
political nature of this issue and would be happy to keep these guidelines
fully confidential as appropriate.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Kristen
