The Sharlot Hall Museum in Prescott, Arizona is offering a paid internship
for students of history, library science, and the humanities.  The Sharlot
Hall Museum Library and Archives collects, preserves, and makes available to
the public historic materials relating to the Central Mountain Region of
Arizona with an emphasis on Prescott, Yavapai County, and Northern Arizona.
The Archives contains over 2,000,000 documents, 120,000 photographic images,
4,000 maps and a 5,000-volume library.  Additional information about the

The paid internship will offer an opportunity to gain practical experience
in a revered Arizona historical research center.  The intern will be
responsible for processing and describing backlogged collections, digitizing
and describing images, maps, and audio files for the Arizona Memory Project
(www.azmemory.lib.az.us), exhibit preparation, public service, and duties as
assigned. Specific skills including digitization of historic photographs
(Adobe Photoshop), cataloging maps, arrangement and description of
manuscript and photograph collections, creation of finding aids and
inventories, and basic preservation of archival materials are helpful.

The stipend for this internship is $3,000.00 to be paid in two weeks
installments.   The individual selected will be expected to work 36 hours
per week for 10 weeks from late May to early August.  Dormitory style
housing and a food program is available at minimal cost. Interested
