What you want to do is look for insurance companies
that specialize in, or have a lot of experience with,
non-profits. Then, you can seek bids which include
legal protection for board members and officers.

When I became Treasurer of the Andrew Carnegie Free
Library and Music Hall, Carnegie PA, in 1995, the
Board was concerned whether I needed to be bonded.
After investigating, it turned-out that our insurance
coverage was sufficient for our needs.
