The J. Paul Getty Museum has the following job opportunity available in
the Interactive Programs department:
Writer (Limited Term until June 28, 2007), Interactive Programs, The J.
Paul Getty Museum
Conceptualizes, researches, and writes interpretive media content for
adult and family visitors to the J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty
Center and Getty Villa. Content platforms include GettyGuide intranet
kiosks, handheld audio players, in-gallery videos and touchscreens, and
www.getty.edu. Assignments may include consultation with curatorial
and education staff regarding works of art and interpretive needs of
target audience, conducting original research or developing copy from a
variety of materials, leading recorded audio interviews with curators or
artists, and working closely with staff producers to review script
drafts and media edits.
Qualifications: M.A. in art history or M.F.A. with extensive writing
experience preferred. Coursework toward M.A. also acceptable. Medieval
studies or Classics desirable. 5-7 years writing, research, and editing
experience, preferably in an arts organization. Experience writing for
a variety of media, including audio, video, text, interactive,
desirable. Skills in word processing and database software required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to
interact effectively and diplomatically with a variety of people within
and outside the Museum. Excellent organizational skills and the ability
to handle multiple tasks under the pressure of deadlines.
This position is a limited-term, full-time appointment through June 28,
2007, and it comes with medical, dental and vision benefits.
