Sometimes you can't avoid folding quilts -- they're a challenge to
store. A regular schedule of re-folding the quilts that are stored on
rollers will help (i.e., folding in a different location). You could
also try stuffing the folded area with archival tissue so it doesn't
form a sharp crease. This may complicate the use of rollers, however.
I've only ever seen it done on quilts stored flat, but it does
significantly reduce the stress along the fold line.
